28 June 2001 Duco Sickinghe has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Belgium's Telenet. He has been Chief Operating Officer, Callahan Cable, since January, 2001.
Mr. Sickinghe takesup the role from Chuck Carroll, the current Chief Executive. Under his leadership at Telenet, the customer base has grown from 12,000 to over 300,000, while managing the high growth, start-up phase and through periods of ownership uncertainty prior to Callahan's acquisition of the company in March 2001.
Mr. Carroll begins a new role, as Chief Technology Officer at Callahan Associates' Kabel NRW, (North Rhine-Westphalia). He will help design and plan the network in Germany's largest cable region.
Duco Sickinghe is highly experienced in the European business environment. He has extensive experience of general management in publishing at Wolters Kluwer, in high-technology businesses like Hewlett-Packard and Next Computer and in start-up companies.
He has lived and worked in The Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Germany and he speaks four European languages. Dutch is his "mother tongue".

With a Degree in Law from the University of Utrecht and an MBA from Columbia University, Duco Sickinghe began his career at McKinsey & Company.
Five years with Hewlett Packard's peripherals products led to his appointment as Vice President Marketing, Europe for Next Computer, working with Steve Jobs, the Apple founder.
In 1993, with Hachette, he co-founded Software Direct to distribute software via CD-ROMs with newspapers and magazines.
Duco Sickinghe joined Kluwers Publishers in 1995, becoming General Manager in 1998 and Managing Director of European internet business in 1999.
